What makes a brand memorable is not just its logo, but the whole visual language built around it. Every touchpoint, from your sign to your menu, from your Instagram post to your business card, should tell the same story.
Define the brand’s personality first
Is your brand friendly, luxurious, energetic or reassuring? The answer to this question is the compass for every design decision, from colour to typeface.
A logo should be simple and scalable
A good logo is legible both in a tiny profile picture on a phone screen and on a large sign. Logos that are too detailed, thin-lined or full of effects get lost at small sizes. Prepare black-and-white and single-colour versions too.
Colour palette and typography
A palette of one main colour, one or two supporting colours and neutral tones is enough. When the two typefaces chosen for headings and text are used the same way everywhere, the brand quickly becomes recognisable.
Create a usage guide
The clear space around the logo, examples of incorrect use, colour codes and typefaces should be collected in one document. That way the result stays consistent whoever does the design, whether it’s the printer, an agency or your own staff.
Roll it out to applications
Applications such as menus, packaging, social media templates, vehicle wraps and signage bring the identity into the real world. You don’t have to do them all at once; start with the points customers see most.
